PAINTING

The Duval & Mauler studio carries out all the traditional interior and exterior painting work, both on new and old support surfaces. In order to revive the appearance of a place, we pay particular attention to the preparation of the support surfaces as well as fully cleaning decorative mouldings or motifs on panelling and cornices. We only use top-of-the-range professional paints.

WALLPAPER

Partners of Duval & Mauler are specialised in hanging wallpaper. Truly adding to the charm of a room, this technique has to be irreproachable: after drafting the layout to know the exact amount of wallpaper to be ordered, the partners, as when applying a lacquer, prepare the support surfaces; when it is time to install the wallpaper, they do this in a meticulous way to ensure making the butt seams disappear. Our partners are also able to install panoramic wallpapers and customise wallpapers based on a photo, motif or drawing.

DÉCOR DESIGN

To design their décors, our partners draw their inspiration from the great architectural movements, working in patina to give the impression of passing time, sometimes in the trends of the time, combining mineral matter, pure colours and metallic effects.

DECORATIVE PAINTING

Our partners, specialised in Décors, restore, reproduce and also create faux décors (faux marble, faux wood, fake stone, etc.). For example, after removing then laying the parquet flooring at Hôtel Matignon, the studio connected skirting boards in faux marble. It also reproduced faux marble on existing panels after trenches were dug in a building lobby, and built a reception hall and fake stone landings in a building in the 8th arrondissement of Paris.

NATURAL AND STRUCTURED MATERIALS

In order to give more thickness to a décor, the studio regularly covers walls with lime or stucco plaster, both of which require applying them in successive layers. Coloured thanks to mineral pigments, they add dimension to the room, through the movements of the painter, thus giving it a unique finish.

Another strong point of these two materials is their robustness, ensured by the succession of layers, and which prevents the initial colour of the support layer from showing through in case of a chip.

CREATION OF COLOURS

From the orange of the woodwork of the Orangerie of the Château de Versailles, made from the fruit itself, to the Brun Doré restoring the colour of carpeting, and the fittings made by our teams to reproduce the ageing of existing paintwork, our whole colour palette is developed by our partners based on natural pigments stored in our workshop, giving it quality and an unparalleled depth.

GILDING

The Duval & Mauler studio brings life and splendour to antique decorations and furniture thanks to its mastery of different gilding techniques (gilding with water, mixing, etc.). Our partners pay special attention to the preparation and highlighting of the painting around the gilded motifs. They can work in a studio, indoors and outdoors, and comply with the confinement provisions specific to each technique used.

FLOOR COVERINGS

Duval & Mauler partners install all types of floor coverings (solid parquet, laminate flooring, carpet, PVC vinyl flooring, etc.). They accompany and advise customers in the choice of their covering, notably in relation to the location and the intensity of traffic. They are also able to personalise it by means of patterns or drawings.

TREATMENT OF LEAD PAINT

Widely used in housing until the 1950’s, lead is still present today in many coatings, primarily in paint. Because lead is a toxic metal, contracting authorities are obliged to carry out lead diagnostics before any works. Based on our experience with Historical Monuments, we have developed ways to treat lead paints in order to protect occupants from potential exposure. All are in compliance with the INRS ED909, thanks to the installation of containment systems, Individual Protection Equipment and techniques limiting the diffusion of dust.
